Diesel Tourer in Bedford

Bit of a long shot, but I wonder if any club members know anything about this car for sale.

It looks good but is quite a trip for me to go and look. Although it seems overpriced, I have always wanted a Firefox tourer and I need to be looking for an auto due to a dodgy hip.

50k, 4 owners, “part” service history

What do you think?

I don't know the car but looks to be in fair shape, dont worry about the part service history a good service will see things right.

Looks like a factory reg number too, id be trying for 3.5k seeing as the headlights need a polish

Although some mot fails the mot history is quite good and the fails not too serious. Quite expensive

I believe they have refitted the missing front indicator.

Whilst the low mileage might appear attractive, these engines/gearboxes will do enormous mileages, so unless you are going to do mega miles I would be happy paying less. There are still plenty in the 70k+ region to be had.

I considered this advertised car a few weeks ago as I will wish to replace my Omega estate by next September.

I wasn't impressed with the fact that from the photographs the dealer doesn't seem to have made much effort to prepare the car consistent with the asking price. Also, 50k is actually quite low mileage, I felt too low for a diesel engine that is 16 years old. I would prefer 75k+ as the car will then have covered an average of around 5k per anum. At 50k miles, it is only 3k miles PA which just doesn't feel enough to keep a diesel engine from being clogged up due to short journeys.

I wouldn't be worried by low mileage clogging the engine up - after all, who's to say it didn't do sensible length motorway runs, just not very often !

Personally, for that mileage, spec (look closely at the pics - they missed that it has powerfold mirrors...), the great colour, 2 keys, the nice alloys, etc, I'd say it isn't too far off the mark if body and interior are tidy once viewed. You'd likely have to pay twice that price if it had a BMW badge.

Additionally, I'd be surprised if they wouldn't negotiate as we get closer to Xmas and the used car sales market quietens.

The colour and alloys were the other two things I wasn't sure about.

It might be me but the whole of the n/s looks to of had a poor paint job, look at the reflection on the drivers side photo to compare, sill on the o/s looks damaged, the fuel filler looks to have been replaced and rattle canned. Various scuffs on the front bumper too.
Lovely spec and miles but you would be looking at over £1000 to get it perfect.

Looking again the rear bumper has had the same treatment. Again looks to be a ratle can jobbie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
