Afternoon everyone, the rule here is people who die from Covid are to be cremated within 3 days, it was the funeral of the young mum this morning, unfortunately we could not make it. RIP

Yesterday we started our journey back from the coast, about an hour into the drive, white steam was bellowing from behind the dashboard into the inside front + hot coolant was dripping into the front passenger footwell and the steering was difficult to turn, so I pulled onto the verge, switched the engine off and we jumped out fearing the car was going to catch fire or go up in smoke.

Luckily I stopped opposite a garage/petrol station.

I called a mobile mechanic, 3 guys arrived within a half hour on their motorcycle: the motorcycle owner, a mechanic, an auto electrician.

The AC unit leaking from the small radiator, coolant lost.

A work around was found .... bypassed the ac unit. Radiator refilled with 8L of ready to go coolant and ran through, hoses rechecked. A/C kaput. Power steering fluid was empty, pipe and fluid replaced. All connections were tightened, under trays cleaned and refitted.

Within a couple of hours of the mechanics arriving, we were back on the road and carried on driving for 200+miles. Overnight in a hotel called “Hunters Lodge”, then today a 5 hours drive back to Nairobi. Fortunately, no more Bees up with the car, but it will be having more repairs.

Apart from one episode of food poisoning and car trouble, we had a fantastic month away at the coast, how lucky we are

It's wet vac time again.
