This will just be a ceramic coating, like what gives you the wet, glossy finish on car paint.

Temporary solution only really, although probably will last a few months.

If you are doing long journeys say of a few thousand miles and your headlights get caked in insects, dirt, grit, you name it, you really want the harder wearing 2 pack finish I keep going on about.

Hey T16

Could you give any details on the harder 2 pack you mentioned?

Thanks

Kev

Default Confession

Chaps, I have to confess that when I looked again in the morning in actual daylight, I was not quite so impressed. Lights still look really good but not as perfect as I thought the night before in my garage. I'll may do it the long way next time.

These are mainly oil based products which refract light in scratches and "wet" dull surfaces... WD40 a case in question as well as mosquito repellent which was the trick of the day several years ago...

the only way to improve them is to sand off the old surface to beyond UV and or grit damage and re finish them to at least 3000 grit and then plastic polish or 2 pack …

I bit the bullet and used the full restoration kit by Autoglym.
At £24 it isn’t cheap but the results are visible in the guide I posted in the Valeting section on here.

You need full mouth, nose, eye and skin protection plus it's highly explosive.

This is not worth purchasing as all it's going to do is cover the headlights.

I will stick to polishing with my battery powered machine, far safer.

Treated myself to a pack of Headlightrestore.us and will report back as soon as I have assurances of the 30 rain-free minutes required on the instructions for it to work properly!

ECP do a similar product HERE Looks great when you first wipe over, but then as previously pointed out, the next day.......Mmmmmmm.

The only way, is lots of effort, going through the grades of paper and a good quality plastic polish or 2K UV lacquer.
