IMHO THE BEST combination of all available parts to date would be...
Mk1 Metal Master cylinder, Borg n Beck sprung clutch and plate, Metal Slave cylinder, (Tazu/MG Rover). Don't even bother considering anything else, you will just waste time and more importantly, money. Trust me, I did exactly that.

As a statement of fact, it is highly inaccurate. Pease see the statements from someone who is recognised as the clutch expert on our cars and fits them as a trader. My experience of Luk is all positive to the extent that I see no reason for using anything else on the 75s. |

My comment wasn't just one of personal preference. Having had 3 slave cylinders of various brands fail prematurely, on the same car, including a genuine LUK, I made my comment more as advice to others, given my personal experience.

The new slave was received yesterday. It came in a plastic bag without any label on it. There is no stamps/markings to find on its body either so I don`t know which make it is. Strange as Rimmers has sold it as a genuine MGR item.
It has metal pipes fitted. Anyway, I will put the thing in place soon and it will hopefully do its job..... |

Einar, if you are planning on removing the quick coupling to fit a brake pipe union, have a look at Freelander TD4 LUK slave cylinders.
In my experience the slave cylinders generally fail as a result of poor installation techniques, including stressing the pipework during fitting, or cross contamination from old fluid. The last CDTi clutch I fitted was lighter than a 1.8 and smooth as silk, and I used LUK throughout. The original slave were AP Lockheed, but as mentioned before the thing not to do is fit a "Brand X" Brian |
