Smile What to Do with my CDT Tourer

A recent MOT, started me thinking, what to do with my car, it passed but will need two new front tyres, and the drop links changing in the next few weeks.
Also the driver side front tyre has worn slightly on the inside edge, so as the car is now 16 years old and still love it, my question is what aspect of the suspension should I be looking to change. Would it be prudent to change any bushes, engine mounts etc the MOT tester didn't mention anything needed doing as such, but prevention better, than cure as they say. Also my rear silencer is showing signs of rust, what are the options?.
With regards to the tyre wearing on the inside, would sorting the the tracking out cure this, as I don't want to get new tyres on before the cause is sorted.
Any suggestions much appreciated as always, thanks.

Exhaust I'd leave alone as its probably a double skin so it's only cosmetic. Suspension wise for me I'd only do it if it needed done as so many new parts aren't as well made so I'd get it tracked and keep an eye on the tyre wear. But others may say different.

I think I’d echo what Colin is saying. If it’s your original exhaust they can last a fair few years after the first signs of corrosion. Mine certainly has and it’s now 14 years old. The amount of potholes on our roads may well have caused your tracking/ wheel alignment to be out of kilter. I’m sure it’s recommended to have your wheel alignment checked once a year. Probably recommended by a company that does it right enough!

Totally agree with both above posts.---

Fix your tracking now, then just drive it.

My advise would be to not have the alignment adjusted until the new tyres on. A worn tyre can load the rubber bushing on the suspension asymmetrically and thus give a false reading and you could end up with a worn tyre again

Thank you for reassuring words. Am I right in assuming then that it is likely to be an tracking and or alignment problem regarding the front wheel uneven wear.?

yes

I think Hawker is the system recommended as the best for having tracking done.

Hunter Hawkeye is the one to go for. 4 wheel alignment, pretty sure ATS use them (about the only time I'll recommend ATS). It checks rear wheel alignment as well as front.
As for any other bushes or engine mounts to replace, if the MOT gave them a clean bill of health, and you have no untoward bangs or knocking on bumps, then I'd leave everything as is.

There is a wheel alignment chart kindly posted on here by T-Cut that you can download and give to the guy doing the wheel alignment so that he can get it right.-------
