75 CLUB SE TURBO AUTO Brake Lights permanently on
After recently spending an interesting weekend, with the excellent help of this forum, diagnosing and fixing the dastardly fuel filter problem I found, when all was back in place, that my brake lights are permanently on when the ignition key is turned to II. I recall that during my intense internet search for assistance that I came across an article mentioning a potentiometer that required tweaking in order to set the correct level of response. Try as I may I cannot find it anywhere now that I need it. Was I dreaming or perhaps halucinating from the after effects of excessive petrol fume inhalation or is this a fact. Can anyone help me ---- please!!!

I'd imagine the pedal switch at the top of the brake pedal is either broken or has moved out of its bracket.
Reach up and find the switch and remove it. Sorry I don't know a part number but I'd be surprised if it was anything else. |

I've checked the pedal switch and it seems OK, I can hear it clicking on and off when I operate the pedal. I'm just banjaxed why it should suddenly happen after I had fixed the fuel filter prob.

Maybe worth checking fuses and bulb.
Years ago i had a bulb go on a calibra and it caused both of the brake lights to be permanently on |

Nothing to adjust just effectively a switch on the pedal and the lights themselves but the lights are controlled by electronics not directly by the switch making fault finding a little more complex. The brake lights can for example be turned on at a low level if the rear lights fails.
First you need to detach any work done from the problem I would back track remove rear seat squab double check for any wiring damage etc If nothing is obvious just treat it as a seperate fault |
