Sorry, but I agree with Tourerfogey on this.
Yes, it shows impressive acceleration. But, if you were driving on a dual carriageway at a steady 60, and went to overtake a BMW towing a trailer, and as you got level with him he accelerated away, you'd not be happy. He also gets a bit close to the other car on the inside lane too whilst performing that manoeuvre. |

Okay... We all know the driver of the 260 should know better and that his actions may perhaps land him a long chat with a police officer but hey.... it wasn't half fun to watch

Years ago I had an 1159cc Viva, and my father-in-law offered to lend me his caravan for a holiday, but not his car. No matter, my Dad had a Lada-shape Fiat 124 SS (the 1600 TwinCam engine IIRC), with a towbar on, which he let me use.
Trouble was, the Fiat's performance with the 'Van on was actually better than my Viva solo, and I literally forgot I'd got the van on the back as I went to overtake a truck on the Derby ring-road. Only the road-awareness and professionalism of the truck driver, who braked heavily to let me in, avoided what could have been a nasty accident. I was only in my mid/late 20's at the time, but had an RAF driving licence as well as 10 years experience, so I should have known better. So I reckon I agree with Mr Fogey on this one - bin there, done that! malcolm |

The clip as I understand it is, the van is driven by the son of the 260 driver so they were aware of the potential of the car.

Oh, hello
I signed up a while ago when looking for a 260, but haven't got round to posting anything here yet. Bit of a dull first post too, haha. Thanks for the welcome. I dont know the car, but its been mentioned on XPF and Two-Sixties and a friend showed me the pistonheads link. Just linked the text and pics with the video. |
