Is this good service?
End of April I had air con re-gassed. Hardly used the car since and today, no cool air.
Drove to the dealer, no appointment and asked if they could look at the car. 20 minutes later it is in their workshop. A faulty relay found, their description and I cant say they are wrong but I am unsure. another 20 minutes and it is re-gassed and on the forecourt. I go to pay..... and was shocked...... no charge. I'm to use car and take it back next week, no doubt I'll be charged then but if a don't go back I guess they wont charge. Well done the local Honda main dealer. As for their diagnostics, in another thread it has been questioned but re-gassing and doing it so quick with no appointment and no charge I think above and beyond macafee2 |

I think you will go back and tell them it is ok or not. I pretty sure you will not be charged. It will be a bit of promotion for them because you will tell everyone how good they are, and they will make their money that way methinks.

Why would it need regassing unless the previous gas had escaped? My brother regassed my ZTT in May 2017 and it was empty a year later. No obvious leaks so concluded that it was age related seepage. A can of A/C sealer was introduced and then regassed again, 14 months on it's holding full pressure and A/C works beautifully.

It should be pointed out that macafee2 tested the alleged faulty relay himself and found it to be working perfectly satisfactorily.

I know its a mixed message but they did the car there and then and apparently re-gassed with leak dye added. I know I am now questioning the relay but they did not charge me and so whilst the relay diagnosis may be wrong I am still able to look at the whole package and I think they did well. Lets see what happens over the weekend and next week, I'll then have a chance to reconsider my impression. If I need to go to a specialist I will but another branch found a leak on an O ring of our other car and also noted a problem arising so I don't want to be to quick to take a pop at them. The advice here is more specialist then the dealer as they are Honda and those here are keen Rover fans. Tracing the leak which I suspect there is will be the priority. macafee2 |

Both A/C leaks and electrical gremlins can be intermittent issues.
It sounds to me like the Honda dealer gave you good service. In the time till you return to the dealer it may be a good idea to use the system as frequently as possible. It will be interesting to see if the pressure drops or you have more electrical issues. My money would be on a leak. Have you tried wiggling the A/C pipes and listening for gas escaping at the joins? That's how I found a leak on my wife's old PT Cruiser.
