Well, when I went to change the plug, I found that the old one was split further down, so it was obviously an old repair, gone wrong.
So I repaired, soldered, wrapped the wires, plugged it in and took for a test drive. The car went like smelly stuff off a spade. I'm not sure if it was the clean EGR, or this wire and plug. But my car has never driven so well. I drove 5 miles and smiled the whole time. I'm not sure if I even need the new battery I've ordered today. Again thanks to everyone who responded. And WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
