Acceleration stops!
Hi gents
Had to replace the in-tank fuel pump on my CDTi but since then I get an occasional (every 1 - 2 weeks) situation where the car will not accelerate when the pedal is pushed, just stays at the same speed. This will go on for up to 10 seconds then clears. Then it is OK, all as normal. Only happens since the in-tank pump failed. I don't think this is a failure of the in-tank pump as it happens with plenty of fuel in. Would it be an underbonnet pump problem? Any ideas welcome. Thanks. |

When was the last time the fuel filter was renewed? A new fuel filter may help?

Outside chance that the throttle potentiometer is faulty, If a quick jiggle of the pedal makes it respond again.

Pull the plug from the fuel filter housing in the engine bay, liberally spray contact cleaner into both halves and plug it in again. Unplug and plug it a few times too.
See if that helps. |
