Ah, yes. Mickyboy has shown me a pic of the two halves. Looks doable.
I am in Norton, Stockton-on-Tees. Thanks the offer, but I might save that credit for a touch problem! . I think I should be able to buy a new bottom-half, or lash up some Velcro. I am trying to just enjoy the car as is, then hopefully build up some trust with it over the next year. Then I can attack the small jobs. But this cubby thing is literally in my arm's way as imam driving! I will have a ponder and report back. |

Right, so I am clearly a bit of a doofus. I have got a replacement lid and it has made chuff-all difference. I guess my problem is in the base, not the lid?
I don't know what the thing should look like! My lid looks like the image further up. My base looks like the attached. Any ideas, anyone? Is there something missing from the bottom? Sent from my Redmi 4X using Tapatalk |

the hinge bracket, as I said before, I eased my forward and it works, at least for a little while. It has worked long enough for me to not worry about the 10 seconds it takes to bend it lightly. If it was a bigger job, I would have dismantled it to make it permanent.

I have tried bending it as much as I can (and now I have two, have been pushing it harder!) but I just can't get it to stay down. Grr!

Imagine there are vertical legs below the hinge going to the centre tunnel. It is these that have to be 'eased' forward. Sit in the back, and with the lid closed, try pushing the hinge forward. This is how it works for me.

Hmm, I did that, and for a moment, it would stay down. But if I open it, then I am back to square one. I think I need to get a magnetic latch, or stick on some Velcro. Damn thing!!!
I wonder if anyone wants a spare inner lid?! |
