Tried to figure out why my reversing sensors have never worked on my Tourer since I bought my car 2 years ago. Just a long beeep and no clicking of the sensors at all. Replaced the loom, ecu (white box) and all 4 sensors from my donor car. Now i have 2 sensors happily clicking away so 50% of the way there now!!

Didn't get round to changing the sparkies yesterday so I've just done it now.
Engine oil in the chamber for the one in front of the oil filler cap. The oil was last changed by a garage, I've never done that yet nor had to top up, so that's on them.
Cleaned it out with contact cleaner and paper kitchen towels. Sorted.
But . . Last time I pulled up after last fridays visit to Mickyboy and Rick_Sta, Mo was idling at 1100rpm.
After changing the sparkies she is still idling at 1100rpm.
What do I need to check this time?
and remember she is missing a post cat oxygen sensor, if that might have something to do with it. But I doubt it because this has only just started happening.
I'd better mention that when I was having the hesitation problems , on my way down south the rev counter bounced rhythmically between 600 and 1200 rpm when idling.

EDIT - problem now solved thanks to Marinabrian. Thanks Brian.

Ok so Sunday as opposed to today but we finally got around to fitting Willy with his new boot lid, £20 off eBay, looks a lot neater at the rear now. Just need to get the 1.8 badge off it...time to nick the wife’s dental floss…

Also made a new boot board as the old one was more bowed than John Wayne after a long day in the saddle.

Used B&Q 9mm plywood as their 5mm was more like 4mm, which seemed a bit thin. I know some have used 12mm ply but glad I didn't go any thicker than 9mm cos the plastic handle only just clipped back in, with a bit of effort to boot.

Added an additional foam pad that I had lying around to the centre of the underneath of the board to give a bit of cushioning between the board and the spare wheel.

Both have made such a difference to Willy’s rear so a couple of relatively quick jobs well worth the effort.

So today I turned the key!

Not much else happened after that though, it just simply refused to fire into life and it's always been a good starter, the only time it got close it idle for about 1 second and died.

The list of issues with this car are getting longer not shorter... This could be the final nail

OK, but what did he do to solve it?

Oh, never mind. I just saw it over in the tech forum - throttle pedal reset procedure. We need an emoticon that kicks oneself on oneself's butt.

Default Today I Did

Finally got round to fitting a new pollen filter to my ZT today, bought it a few months ago and remembered having problems re-attaching ECU the last time. Well same happened again this time, easy remove panels then ECU and out with old pollen filter. Fitted nice clean new filter then try as I may could not seem to align the ECU back into its dual slot bracket. After much cursing and some cuts to back of my forearm and hand all of a sudden it just slotted straight back down in. Whilst ECU and filter was out I cleared the plenum drain hole as it had some leaves and bits at the bottom of the pipe. Nice dry plenum chamber and dry filter as I do have the plenum mod on my top panel. After the pollen filter was done I decided to polish up my headlight lenses as they looked a little dull. I have found using Autosol chrome/metal polish cuts through the haze, a quick polish with clean cloth and a spray of Silicone dressing and clear headlights again. Also ran the car until up to temperature and fired up the AC, still seems to be nice and cold and with the new filter smells much fresher. Happy days.
