I've just put new pads on Kims front axle. The bolts for the bracket the caliper fastens on, wouldn't shift
However, the old discs look like they were new not too long ago so I decided to leave them on.
There is no pad wear sensor on the pads though. I think that must have broken off when the warning light came on.

But I've spotted another job. As I was unfastening the nearside caliper sliders, I saw the wishbone moving up and down in the inner bush

This is a job I am about to do...how difficult is it, and how long should it take?

Hi John.
It is an easy job to do if you have some ramps,/axle stands, so car on the ramps, or jack up on axle stands, remove undertray if you have one, make sure the car is in neutral gear even if it is an auto, the reason for this is if you don't you will still be able to remove the mount but will struggle to re-fit it.

Two 15mm bolts to remove a good socket or decent ratchet spanner will do the job and the mount will slide out, bolts back in, refit the undertray if you have one, overall with the undertray removal 30 minutes.

Thanks! I have no facilities at home to do it, so will leave it to Cossie Duncan when he gets round to telling me when I can visit him! Was just curious...

I NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- hate these cars! Air bag light and now my bonnet release, I can't release the stupid thing because my cable box is cable tied to the body, I can reach it just about with my finger tips but it won't come down.

I'm supposed to be off to London tomorrow, lets hope it's oil drinking habits don't persist.

NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- heap of NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-

I took the diesel automatic (aka "The Silver Slug") in for an MOT today.

It passed with one advisory on a rear tyre getting worn on the outer edge.
I must get it 4 wheel tracked.

The third pass in my ownership, which is not bad for a 500 quid banger.

The brake pad wear warning gizmo is only for people who do not maintain their car. My brakes are checked at least every six months. Pads have never been lower than three/ four mills when I change them.
