Don't despair.
It is possible to open the bonnet from outside the car. We are just not allowed to post the advice here! So if you don't come right, write me on willdoATicon.co.za, and I will tell you how.

It's worth trying but don't force it and break the key. It should have unlocked with a turn of 90 degrees. The question is, are you turning it the correct way (considering your car is LHD). Have a look at this web page - https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID001786 The relevant parts are: A. Handle (item 8) - the same part number fits LHD and RHD B. Backplate - (item 5) - there are different part numbers for LHD and RHD C. Lock assembly (item 9) - there is only one part number, which indicates that the same part is fitted to both LHD and RHD cars D. Latch assembly (item 21) - there are two part numbers for LHD and a different two for RHD If C. above is correct, then it must mean that on LHD cars, the key must be turned in the same direction as RHD cars - i.e. clockwise unlocks it. The UK/RHD Owner's Handbook (page 6) says this: "Turn the key in the driver's door lock towards the front of the car to disarm the alarm and unlock the driver's door only." You're standing on the opposite side of the car to UK/RHD owners but part C is the same, so logic says you should be turning the key towards the rear of the car to unlock (i.e. you're still turning clockwise). Have you got an Owner's Handbook (for Italy/LHD)? If so, what does it say on page 6? I suspect your lock assembly is not operating the latch assembly properly (or at all) so I think your best option at the moment is email Kaiser - see post 22 above. As Kaiser says, don't despair - there's a way in. And once you've got the door open you can fit a new latch assembly (item 21) relatively easily. As I understand the standard, pin 4 (green) of the 12S socket should be wired directly to the battery positive (via a 10A fuse).
There should be no split charge relay (et al) in the circuit, in the car. Haynes manual 4292 Rover 75 shows it as being pin 2! But (British) standards being (EU) standards, who knows. Perhaps somebody with a 12S socket can confirm this. Last edited by MarkS; 27th April 2019 at 13:28.. |

Done, after a 30 minutes battle... Thank you! Tomorrow I will change the battery and restore the car to normal operation I think that the door key mechanism is broken or non-working although the remote is working fine so far. I will bring the car to a garage to fix it in the next days. I also have a similar problem (from quite a long time) with the front passenger door: it does not open both operatiog the outer handle, both operating the inner lever, even when the car is open. Why the door latch mechanism are so weak in this car ? Anyway, thanks to all for the great and valuable support! Pietro |

Pietrov, remember that because the battery went flat with the car locked and alarmed, when you connect a new battery the alarm will activate, so be ready with the fob to press the 'unlock' button.

Pietro - did you find the Owner's Handbook in the car? If so, what does it say on page 6? (see post 23).
