Default Cracked windscreen

Cracked the screen yesterday when the bladeless arm sprang back onto it. What are my options? Do the specialist breakers retrieve screens before the shells go? I need one with the auto wiper detector (or can this be transferred?). Presumably fitting is not a DIY job.
Advice needed otherwise the car might otherwise get scrapped.

Why would you contemplate DIY, do you not have insurance for that.

Yes, I should have insurance. However, I'll need to MOT this car before taking it for the new screen and I'm not sure if it will pass, althoguh the cracks are on the passenger side.
But can the windscreen people still supply screens with the wiper sensor?

Yes. I had one replaced at Christmas

Ideal. Quick Google search reveals a number of windscreen fitters in the Leeds area.

It is a diy job if you've got the tools, I've done a few of my own now but a fitter isn't going to charge a huge sum to fit
