Will be carrying this job out tomorrow, the same time as fitting new 2/4 duty solenoid.

Got a problem though, when it comes to taking lower connection off the oil cooler, my car is a turbo automatic and the oil cooler is is the drivers wheel arch and i'm not sure which connection I should be taking off to pump the remaining fluid out, can anybody help?!

Thanks. Steve.

Just drain the gearbox using the large hex nut, that will be fine.

I've done that, just wanted to drain as much off the oil out as possible using this procedure.

Looking at the diagrams on Rimmers for the oil coolers for diesels/ turbo autos and autos it seems to be the lower connection from the transmission.

Steve.

Steve,

The photos can be viewed 100% using the Chrome browser with the Photobucket fix add-on. Posted a picture of Dave's engine just the other day which I managed to get free from its manacles, could even save it the the desktop after a little work.

That will NOT work the gearbox is designed to only allow approx half the contents on an auto diesel to flow from drain plug!
The correct procedure is to partially drain gearbox (which approx half will be drained) then replenish through filler with approx half of clean fluid, then the remainder of the dirty oil you drain from the lower connection on the cooler, which you will find when you measure it, is almost exactly half the capacity of the gearbox, and will be filthy.
You are now in the position where all the dirty oil is out,the next move is to refill though filler with half the capacity to bring you up to full which you can check via the level plug (close to drain plug)...hope this helps......I did do a blow by blow account of my own experience when I came to change my auto diesel transmission oil, which should be around somewhere?
