I agree wholeheartedly. And if you drive a V8 BMW, Mercedes or Jaguar, you have made it as a man of some pedigree and standing. People should just accept that we all know why we drive synthetic BMW's made out of parts from their rejects bin as opposed to the real thing. Last edited by MSS; 24th December 2018 at 08:38.. |

Perhaps when the imbecile’s between us we have put in charge of our destiny, come round after Christmas, let’s hope they decide to go for broke. We may then get some sense of future projects invented by the brains of Britain, and perhaps? They may just be owned and run by someone with the best of British in mind, not sold for a mess of postage. Merry Christmas.

Interesting article, but how comes a 22 year old with 3 years NCB pays less for his insurance for a 2 year old A190D Merc than 60 year old with 10 years NCB does for his 14 year old Rover 75 ?

Maybe a different slant on the Daily Mail article.
Perhaps those whizzing aroung in new BMW's Mercs etc. don't give a monkey's about the speeding "fine" as it's petty cash for them. Therefore it isn't any deterrent at all. Those in "cheaper" cars have less cash so any fine will have a proportionally greater impact on them. Perhaps we should have variable fines in the same way as we have variable speed limits. These could be applied without any sort of common sense or direct link to what's actually happening...... Very old news now but this sort of thing: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/1759791.stm Just a thought. Andy. Last edited by AndyN01; 26th December 2018 at 10:27.. |

If I designed the penalty system, the fines would be in proportion to income, excess speed and would increase exponentially for successive transgressions. |

I think you will find it already is proportional to your income. But it is up to the beak to work it out.
