strianing an engine
my CDT as standard was hard work when towing a caravan. Once remapped to 160 it became much less effort to drive when towing.
just an example if standard I need 3/4 throttle to climb any hill with the caravan in tow remapped I only need 1/2 throttle is the strain on my engine any different? macafee2 |

In each situation, the engine is doing exactly the same amount of work - if that's what you mean by straining.

Doing work at a certain rate takes power. So, more power means you can do the same work in less time. A remap presumably increases the available power for a particular throttle position (in effect it burns more fuel more effectively). You could say pulling a caravan uphill in a shorter time puts more strain on the engine than dragging it up more slowly. Either way, the engine is well up to it.

Stress means within workable limits. Strain means exceeding workable limits and causing damage.
