Water leak into boot
Hi - After some recent rain I have discovered that the carpet in the boot on the left hand side is wet. I have never noticed this before.
Has anyone had a similar problem and if so, how did you fix it? And I don't know if its related (I hope not) the reception on the radio seem weaker that before. Any thoughts out there? |

Do a search for boot leaks - plenty of experience and advice on this .
I had 2 boot leaks myself. One was the chrome waistline trim and the other was the boot vent. Both are now thankfully fixed. I think the rear windscreen is another favourite for this problem.

Boot vent behind the carpeted wall was and is again the cause for me.

My leak was the neoprene seal around the rear light lens. easy to fix with a tube of superglue.

hi, there are several places to look at, first I would remove the side inner boot linings, and floor carpet, then use a watering can or hose pipe and wet the side rear wings around the chrome strip, you may see water ingress in the boot as a result, apply same trick to the rear light clusters and the base of the rear windscreen, as you say the radio reception is week that may or may not be related to either water around the rear screen causing a problem as this is where the ariel is situated.
There is quite a bit on this in other threads. http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=22887

by the way, if it turns out to be rear light cluster neoprene seal that is the badboy here, you can apply a bead of silicon sealant to cure, or another cure maybe to simply reverse (swop) left seal for right seal, this idea is a trick given to me from Nick Nick used to great effect

Thanks everyone for the support and advise. Hopefully when things dry out the radio reception may improve.

When your boot space has dried out thoroughly, might be worth lightly sanding any corrosion or rust from your ariel socket, on the rear of the radio unit.
Ours was the same, FM generally OK but with MW on it was hiss, pop & crackle lol Though now, ours is sorted.. Good luck |
