I know a guy in Halifax who needs his fan removing and refitting, sounds like you are super fast!

When you have the bumper off disconnect the wiring. On the two plugs that go to the fan you will see two thick wires. If you connect these up to a battery and the fan starts, then you know you have a faulty relay.

NO NO NO!!!
You'll get away with testing a petrol fan control box like that but, not a diesel box.
The speed is controlled by a PWM waveform (pulse width modulation) on the thin wires of the fan harness.

If you put voltage up these, you are likely to fry the PCB inside the fan relay control box.

Newbies do now!!
1. Plenum drains..all 3 or 4 year dependent
2. Cooling fan..All speeds functioning
3. Bonnet cable divider block

That's quite OK didn't mean to be rude, just spread the word about the different control boxes
Oh BTW some of those tests can be done without taking the front off !

ie scramble behind the front passenger side wheel arch liner and there are the 2 large multi plugs.
