how do you attempt to put headlight bulb holder clip back???
i got it off by using the access hatch through the wheel arch liner.and changed the bulb.
but can't get the clip to go back on
i was going to remove the headlght but while trying to remove bumper discovered some body has dammaged one of the top bolt and all it does is spin and not undo
my car is now unusable so any suggestions will be gratefully recieved!!

Hi Mark, the headlight clips are a real pain if you don't do them everyday!

If its the drivers side you can remove the washwer filler neck ( twist and pull) for better access, passengerside is obstucted by the airintake. Never had to do it but I would imagine if you remove the wheel you should be able to slacken off the inner plastic wheel arch assy and not sure but that should give better access. Failing that 20 20 vision and tiny hands is a good alternative.

Sorry cannot be of more help

If you have everything back together and just need to put the retaining clip across the secret is to start by closing clip as you would say a gate then when it will not close any more put a downward pressure on the clip as it has to pass under a retaining nodule (like a tap shape) then it will spring back up into position, job done. Good example in owner manual

Jsut be aware that whilst the clip looks the same on both sides, it isn't, it only fits one way....having wasted an hour I tried turning the clip over and it popped straight on...

My suggestion is to have a cup of tea, take 5 minutes away and then come back and walk slowly through the process. Sometimes just a couple of minutes away does the trick. Not a lot of help I know but you should get there.

Glad you got it (half) sorted.

Strange thing is I had a o/s tail light fail, replaced it and then the n/s headlight blew!

Is this just a Rover trait?

Default Was it just luck?

I'd ordered some Philips X-treme bubs to replace my current one's as one had blown and as they arrived yesterday I set aside LOT's of time today to replace them after hearing all the problems people have had replacing them, but, it was all done, both dipped-headlights, in 15 to 20 min's tops! Nobody was more surprised than me!
I had done one a few months ago but i was sure it wasn't seated correctly and as the other one went shortly after i ordered new bulbs.
The clips stayed in situ for me which was a godsend, i removed the inner arch access panel and using a small torch to visualise it all first it went smoothly, with hand inside arch panel holding bulb in place and torch in other hand from top you can see where the wire clip needs to be attached. Didn't need to remove filller bottle filler either, and no, i dont have hands like E.T., quite a large chap!
