Default Reverse lights not working

Hi all

I have a problem with the reverse lights on my car - they don't work! Every now and again they are OK but the majority of the time they don't come on when engaging reverse. My reverse sensors are also not working each time this happens. Car is a 2002 manual CDT Club saloon. Any thoughts please? Many thanks, Mark.

I would think the Reverse Light sensor switch.
UMB100090 Switch-reverse light manual transmission £6.87 +VAT
That is for Manual Gearbox for Diesel.
I am sure some more knowledgeable people will be along soon.

NO, tis fairly simple, take left front wheel off and you should be able to see the offending switch on the gearbox. You will need a long reach 19mm skt to remove as a spanner is troublesome if you damage the body of the switch.
Once wheel is off it takes about 15mins to do. Hope this helps.

Excellent, thanks for that. Any ideas where I can get the switch from?

I would not go for the rover part as in the parts book, I have changed 2. The Intermotor part I have fitted has outlasted both, see part number above. Look in Motor factors or a good spares shop.

Mark

Mine had the same problem the other day. Take off the f/n/s wheel. Took off the electrical connector, cleaned it all up and put it back on. Now good as gold. You may not need a new switch.
