Default cdt in-tank fuel pump

Car.. cdt, 1999, club.
wont start start after 15 mile journey. No problems starting till now. Engine turns ok, no sign of firing though. Tank always kept at or above half full.
The underbonnet pump was running ,(no air bubbly sounds )while attempting to start, but the rear pump has always been difficult to hear, so I havent any info on that .
Recovered to local garage, where an obd readout said something about 'low fuel pressure ' i think.

However, i'm pretty sure its that in-tank pump, and so here are my questions ....

Ive searched and read about these pumps, but cant see any answers.
1) I can see there are direct replacements on ebay etc

2)The later engines have only one pump.

Is it possible to replace my rear pump with one of these higher pressure pumps ? If so, can the underbonnet pump be bypassed , or can it be left with fuel going through it ?
Are there any pressure or flow detectors that might be affected by a pump change or bypass ?

The peugot pump is mentioned too is that pressure high enough to run by itself ?

Is it necessary to replace both pumps if a single HP pump can not be fitted ?

And finally part nos of the affected parts please ?

Thanks DerekS

If indeed it is the In tank fuel pump it can be replaced without replacing the under bonnet one if working.
A good source is E Car Parts, these are Genuine New OEM ones.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROVER-75-OR-MG...742.m153.l1262

Part Number for In Tank Pump for diesel Rover 75 or MG ZT is: WFX100933

I cannot help with altering system to single Pump, but they are much more expensive.

I prefer to stick to OEM rather than other makes.
