Default Hi line satnav-no red power light

Hi folks, I decided to look at my satnav drive located in the boot today, there is no red power light working on it, it seems to be dead? There is no satnav option on the highline display either, can anyone please advise where to start looking to power the drive up, fuse ?.I don't even know if there is a disc in there as it seems to be powerless.
regards in advance Neil.

Ill wager its been wet at sometime and then unplugged to stop the battery going flat

Once you have tried all the above recommendations and haven't resolved the problem, I am willing to bet the drive has been corrupted during a battery disconnect. They are very fragile in that sense, and as a rule to remember. Never remove the battery until you have seen the sat navs power light go off.

It is a well known problem with the MK3 sat nav drive.
If the drive isn't allowed to shut down correctly the memory gets corrupted. The Power LED being off is a good sign that the drive can not boot correctly.

As far as I have read, the Rover MK3 can't accept a software update to cure the problem, and you will more than likely have to replace the drive. You can fit BMW drives which can be updated to a newer software version, or go to the Mk4 DVD drive which is better in every way, but mighty expensive.

Default Its a gonner

Removed the drive yesterday, signs of water damage on the outer cases, removed the cover plates to reveal printed circuit board with soldered tracks that have self destructed. Due to the prices of a replacement drive that I have seen on the internet, I don't think I will be replacing the unit.

I have a dud drive that has good circuit board well it did work all ok untill i didnt let it shut down correctly before finding there is a shut down procedure, have a look inside and see if the board can easily be removed if its not the board that holds the memory you may be able to swap it?,
just clutching at straws buddy.

Default Got a new/used drive

Hi all, I've picked up a used replacement drive in very clean condition with no signs of corrosion/water stains etc. Do I just fit it & press the power button, is as simple as that ?.
regards.

No need to...the shut down is if you want to remove the battery. If your sat nav drive is goosed anyway it makes no odds,

It's a good habit to get into to make the drive is not running when it's disconnected
