Please help: Registration of an Irish vehicle in the UK
A friend of mine has acquired a vehicle and needs to register it in the UK. Has anyone got any experience in this area? I've had a quick look and it is as clear as mud! Thankyou very much in advance, Stu

I've done this. Firstly, the Irish NCT isn't valid over here, so he'll need an MOT and UK insurance. The only company I could find when I registered mine was direct line. However, you could do what I did with my daughter's car if you're not in a hurry, and have a friend with garage insurance. Transfer ownership to said friend, and it's simple for him to do it, then transfer ownership back to you. This will only work if you still have the Irish documents.
Once the car is mot'd and insured, apply to the dvla for a UK V5 and registration plate. They may wish to physically see the car, but not usually. Hope this helps.
