Finished the “project car”

Well, I think I’m more or less there with the project car, so, last thing on the list was a bit of spit & polish (and clay mitt & wax)🙄
It was a nice day, but the looming clouds put me under a bit of pressure at the end.

Sorry, couldn’t leave the other 2 out of the photo shoot...🤭

Methinks mrs 75driver might have something to say about that.🙄.
On the other hand, I’m sure I could squeeze one or two more in...🤔.
The problem I have now, is which ones to keep on the road, (along with the daily driver).
It’s getting a bit expensive, this Rover malarkey.😬
Not to mention the continual car shuffle, to stop the brake pads seizing & battery from totally discharging.
What a faff, but it could be worse...🙏

They look great a gaggle of 75s..have you considered those solar chargers you just stick one in the window and it trickle charges the battery?

I know what you mean, I’ve currently got six cars plus a caravan. I currently store the Mini in my sons garage and park my current 75 at a neighbours house as with the caravan now sitting on the driveway for the summer season there’s not quite enough space for them all. My older classics, the SD1 Vitesse and the Vanden Plas 1300 are in my garage.

On the point of battery charging I can recommend the Cetek system. I have leads connected onto some of the cars where I can simply plug into when required. One of the leads has a traffic lights system which shows from green through Amber then onto red when charging is required.

On the 75 I have this lead neatly fixed inside the engine fuse box.

I have a few questions that you might be able to help with.

(I’ve had a look at the ctek website, but a lot of it seems to be technical jargon, that doesn’t give me a real feeling of how the product should be used).

Are these ctek chargers “trickle chargers”, or could they actually charge a low battery, over the course of 12 hours.

On the ctek system, I take it you have to run an extension lead outside to the car?
I’m not sure I’d like to leave it like this for more than a day.
Would 1 days charge, say, every 2 weeks, keep the battery sufficiently charged.

Otherwise, I was going to give solar trickle chargers some serious consideration.

Hi Sean
With the Cetek charger you can condition a low charged or flat battery plus you can leave it coupled to the battery for extended periods. There are several models to choose from plus the latest ones have the quick coupling system i.e. the output lead can plug into the permanent lead on the car plus with extra leads you can have this facility for several cars. They’re normally supplied with at least two leads usually one permanent battery coupling and one with crocodile clips for temporary connection.
You can also purchase an output extension lead which allows the charger to be inside the garage for example with the output extension running to the car but it would still have to be quite close to the garage.
Usually when I’m using mine I place the mains lead under the bonnet for weather protection with the charger alongside.
