Default M3 100

Hi I have been lucky enough to pick up a 2005 Contemporary SE Turbo which has been stored for the last 10 years and has only 18K miles on it it's a stunner. Every thing that needs to be fettled has been done and it runs like a dream. However one problem it has a radio head with the infamous code drop out fault. As there are only 34 of this model left on the UK registration (only 315 built in total) I should like to keep it looking as original as I can. It also has the 6 cd changer. Can any one help with advice on, a swop out to another type ( using the fitted looms, or can someone recommend a clued up dismantaler for complete radio kit or what. Help!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the reply. I have found a VDO unit (tested) that is supposed to be a straight upgrade replacement. I hope I've done the right thing. Again thanks

If the VDO head unit is CD413 or such it’s sound reproduction is pretty poor compared to the unreliable M3100 which definitely has more oomph.

If it’s the original MGR fitment and for that original look the VDO unit requires a different facia which comes in two parts. The VDO will connect electrically no problem anD function fine with steering wheel remote.

You will hopefully be able to pick the facia assembly up from a seller on here.

Hi thanks for the response the unit I have bought has a facia with it so hopefully no problem there. The unit plays through the hardman K amplifier so I hope the sound will be the same. Many thanks Ken
