Default Iovox CR80 CD/radio problems

I have a 2003 Connie SE CDTI in white gold and I have spent a lot on it over the past few years to keep it running.

It seems to be running OK at the moment except for one thing - for the past few months the CD/radio (CR80) cuts out randomly. When it cuts out the screen on the CD/radio cuts out then comes straight back on. I can't think of anything I might be doing to cause this and there do not appear to be another problems when this happens.

I want to know whether it is just because the CD/radio is old (it is 16 years old), or whether it might be an early warning of another problem, eg a wiring fault or a computer chip problem. Have others had this problem?

I've had those radios in three of my Rovers and have had problems with them and the new old stock I replaced them with. Replace with one of the better in car entertainment systems as the difference is mind blowing!

Shame but when the Iovox was working it gave a much better sound than the tinny VDO including their 5403mp3 player.

DOes this unit have a removable security panel? - could be worth checking the contacts maybe if it does.
