Which pipes are you talking about? Coolant hoses or those smaller ones that carry fuel?

I'd be interested to hear views generally on coolant hose clips as last week I experienced a jubilee clip springing open. Couldn't immediately work out how I'd suddenly lost over a pint of coolant after several months of not losing a drop. Opened bonnet with engine running to find a small fountain in full flood. Are there any superior alternatives to the jubilee?

On engines like the KV6 & Kseries with numerous plastic piping joints using a jubilee clip applies a single pinch point at one side and there is also the temptation is to give them an extra yark up leading to the plastic deforming over time and ultimately leaking coolant from the joint.

This is especially relevant given that the plastic pipe stub is not usually lined with a metal sleeve inside allowing the plastic to collapse over time with heat cycles and chemical attack.

The spring clips give a fixed and even clamping force 360deg and is kinder to the plastic fitting in the long term.

These are the best to use if possible. They even self tighten over time.

Just looked at my neighbour's Honda Civic, it uses the squeeze type clips just like the 75. New source??
