re-furbed alloys
As above,
I've just dropped off a set 18" straights to be completely re-furbed and when I get them back and before I put them back on the car is there anything I can apply to the surfaces to help protect/preserve/enhance the surface finish? |

Just a good coat of the wax of your choice Roy, the key is to wash them regularly and keep any muck off them.

I find Autoglym Alloy Wheel Seal good. It doesn't keep the dirt off, but it is easy to wash off as it doesn't stick. Expensive though now - used to be £6.99, now up to £11.00.

Hi,
This is good stuff. Don't be put off by the small amount. It's used very sparingly. Note that the wheels need to be kept indoors for 12 hours to allow the coating to properly cure. https://www.gtechniq.co.uk/shop/auto...-wheel-armour/ Looking forward to the photos |

[QUOTE=AndyN01;2883681]Hi,
This is good stuff. Don't be put off by the small amount. It's used very sparingly. Note that the wheels need to be kept indoors for 12 hours to allow the coating to properly cure At the price it would need to last for the 2 years quoted. Does it? Also quite difficult to have the wheels indoors if you don't have a garage! I'll stick to my Autoglym which has served me well on numerous cars for the past 10 years with reapplication only needed every 3-4 months. |

I was thinking that as the wheels are currently be refurbished then it's the ideal time to put a high quality coating on when they come back.
Everyone has their favourite products and if they do what you want them to at a price you're happy to pay then that's absolutely fine. Each to their own. |

Re-furbished Alloys
Roy
I use this on my wheels and find it helps keep brake dust off wheels, (also have got EBC Green stuff pads) and recommended for wheels as well as the car paint, and had mine for about 4 years, and only used about 1/2 a tin https://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/finis...i-temp-sealant Stu Last edited by Fusilier; 29th May 2021 at 11:22.. |
