Default Power loss

I was driving home from and event a couple of weeks ago (been on holiday since) and I a problem driving my V6 home.

Tickover was fine, and on the minor A roads she behaved well.

On acceleration she was not changing above 3rd unless you eased off on the accelerator then she changed up.

More worrying though was on the Motorway. I hit an incline and she got slower and slower despite me pushing the accelerator further to the floor, she was not kicking down and this was dangerous as I was getting slower and slower. Once the incline was passed she gradually picked up speed again, but I did not go over 70 as I did not want to push my luck.

She is a 2001 2.5 V6 Auto with 42,000 miles on the clock.

My first thought was maybe one of the VIS motors had packed up, but not sure, had one replaced about 18 months ago, but is it maybe a gearbox or kickdown problem.

As always folks your views would be appreciated.

Cheers

Ian

Wont be a VIS motor fault, try pulling fuse 4 in the engine bay fusebox, this will reset the gearbox ecu in case it has got upset somehow.
