2003 rover 75 cdti manual

Default front drivers side light fault

hi guys need some help,,my drivers side front sidelight has gone out i have put a new bulb in even though the old bulb was not blown,it started when the bulb icon was coming on and off intermitenly on the dashboard,,now it on all the time,,all other lights on the car are working fine,,i dont know if i have a broken wire anywhere,,the wires going into the bulb holder seem fine and clean,,how can i check, or any tips what it might be,,regards james

all other lights on the car work perfect checked headlight bulb and connector all clean and no water ingress,,have not checked all the wires behind left headlight as they are all tapped up in the harness..

cant find any broken wires,,i am thinking it could be the light switch module,,my front sidelight wont come on,,it showing a bulb icon on dash?? now when i turn the switch to sidelights it making a funny noise like it does when you switch your car off like the system is booting up,,thinking back i used a steam wash for the first time,,, the day after the bulb icon was coming on intermitenly and now is on all the time,,i am wondering if any water has got into the switch my ecu is bone dry and always has been,,how do i remove the light switch to check there is no water in there,, any help and advice would be great,,regards james

Jim have you metered the cables or just done a visual check?

I'd agree with Pete that it is likely a wiring fault, and this should be thoroughly checked out first.

thanks for reply mike,,i have only done a visual check,,i will go and take tbe bulb out and check i have power and check the earth in the bulb holder,,thats about all i know mike about electrics,,, everything else is perfect on the car,,cars only done 55,000 and is 2003 diesel...

I will second this, but the damage was only visible when the headlamp unit was removed.

hi..thank you,, i had multimeter on the bulb holder there is no power going to the sidelight which is not working,can somebody point me in the right direction,where are the fuses for the sidelights,,i have tried to remove the fuse cover under glovebox i have turned screws 1/2 way it is coming down about 2 inches there is some sort of plastic on the right in a grove stopping it coming down,i dont know if sidelight fuses are in there,,regards james
