I had this problem recently on my facelift 45.
Tried a replacement ECU and the problem was still there. Faulty sensors or diagnosable on T4,so I took it to Austin Garages who quickly found the culprit (far right, from rear).New colour coded one now on order

Funny, I've fitted aftermarket parking sensors to a few of my previous cars and never had a problem, but it sounds like wiring and broken sensors is quite common on these factory fitted ones. I guess it may just be a sign of age.
Appreciate all the help chaps. Will let you know how I get on. |

I removed my factory loom and sensors and replaced with an aftermarket kit. Recommended on here at £11.99 or so from eBay. Perfect match for my colour and look just about the same! No cutting, same size. Job done in half hour.
Gave up trying to fix the factory system. |

For the first year or so I had my car the reversing sensors were intermittent at best but for the last year or so they have worked perfectly without me doing anything other than semi-regular cleaning of the car, mainly with high pressure water only!

That's annoying, posted a response, but it's been lost, think it's my browser.
To cut to the chase... the problem has gone away, it's been working the last 2 days. Due to the weather at the weekend, I didn't get a chance to try any of the suggestions, so I was amazed when it started working on Monday. Can only assume that following the cleaning, they needed to dry out properly; anyway, not complaining |

I had a problem where I had no reversing lights, or operational sensors. Following advice given in the forum the switch on the gearbox was replaced with a new one. I now have reversing lights, and get the tone when selecting reverse gear.
Can someone enlighten me? If one sensor fails, does the whole lot fail, or just the one sensor? Thanks, Jim

My previous 2002 Cdt used to play up sometimes in wet weather but if I wiped them they were okay. It just takes away the confidence when reversing up to a solid object though 99% of the time they were fine..
