Dont go buying an ECU until you reach up and fiddle with the white plastic contact switch on the top of your clutch pedal...its quite a common occourance for it to dislodge slightly and cancel the cruise control...It just pushes back in on a plastic toothed ratchet. I popped mine back in a couple of weeks ago.

You need to adopt a Yoga position and point a torch up into the footwell, its right at the top of the pedal assembly, a black guide with a white plastic thing pushed into it, if you cant see it reach up find the wire and follow it onto the switch then push it further into its socket, you will hear it clicking into place.

Don't worry about the codes, if your car was factory fitted with cruise the codes have already been applied to main engine Ecu. It's not the cruise interface Ecu that needs coding.

As Jamie has said the most likely reason for your cruise not to be working is usually the brake or clutch switches becoming dislodged, and more often than not it's the clutch one for some reason.

They can be a pig to find and require the skills of an acrobat/contortionist to see let alone reach but be assured they are there- Honest.

- I cant believe that if I hadn't of bid, ikorodu would have had an ecu for 99p! sorry 'bout that... but one always assumes there will be about 4 or 5 in for the last minute kill. oops.

Yep, no bad @£29, plus the postage. I think you got the switch for about £12, so still less than £50 (inclusive of postage) for the two bits.

I don't know if you need the bracket but its only about £6 from Rimmers/Xpart.

I have also ordered a steering wheel from Les, which has the cruise control switches on to rob them for by wooden wheel, but I've been thinking...

I'm rubbish at things like cutting out the rear bit of the steering wheel to acept the switches. No matter how hard I try it would always look like my 4 year old had done it!

Sooo, are the crusie steering wheel switches the same in operation as the stereo remote switches? My idea is to rewire the volume switches into the pins on the connector in the wheel for the crusie switches hence no need to cut the wheel. The remote for the radio does not work with my aftermarket head unit so would not be a loss.

Anyone have any comments on the feasability of this?
