New cars?
Out on my travels today ( weather pretty wet and windy) I passed 4 cars at the roadside with or waiting recovery. Funnily enough the oldest one was an 11 plate.
Who says new equals reliable. Felt like tooting on my way past and throwing them a flyer! Chris |

I used to be based in Germany, and went back to the UK often for various reasons, usually used the Calais-Dover ferry.
One of the perks of being based in Germany was we could buy duty free cars, a hell of a saving on UK prices. But, usually you had to collect it from the UK. Coming out of Calais was a long, straight, smooth piece of road, you could put your foot down & clip along nicely. It was nicknamed 'Death Alley' due to the amount of brand new cars that used to breakdown on it. Ford's were a common sight.

The amount of electronics on new cars scares me, as an example a friend had her new Astra break down 3 times, all in the same stretch of road beside the River Clyde in Glasgow.
The AA guy said that it was either the new frequency for Police radio, or the radar from the Type 45 frigates getting built, he was regularly getting called to broken down Astras on that stretch of road, all he did was tow them a mile or so and they would restart..... She avoids that road now, and the car is running fine. |
