Hi just wondering if anyone was brave enough to take a 1.8 engine out and slip a diesel in .

So much else involved be easier to buy a diesel in the first place.

Plenty have tried, one even managed it, but you're talking about a lot more than just slipping another engine in.

If you take that on you'll need deep pockets and weeks (if not months) of hard labour for something that'll never really be right.

My postman did just that to his 190 when it died..........

Bought a donor diesel and gradually swapped everything over.

Took him about a month but then he only worked on it about 3 afternoons a week.
