massive thank you for the advice mss, mbonwick and Alikris.
I think I have now managed to format the drive so my swann system is now seeing it This was stressful, give me moving parts any time. I will have to see how to make sure my swann system records to it as well as recording to its own internal hard drive. it should not make duplicate recordings but instead of having 2TB is should now know it has 5TB of recording space thank you again really appreciate the advice, sorry if I made it painful macafee2 |

NTFS and FAT32 are ways of organising data on a hard disk and are called file systems. FAT32 was used in Windows ME. windows XP brought NTFS which is much more efficient. Current systems mostly use NTFS. Linux uses its own file systems again. Use the 2.69TB partition on your CCTV system. Just ignore the FAT32 one as it is so small comparend with the first.
