Default Where to sell prints

Hi guys

I've decided to try and sell a few of my landscape prints but unsure how to go about doing this. Is there any specific sites or places that people use?
I only have 2-3 pictures that I feel may be worth selling. I'd be grateful for any advise. Many thanks, Ravinder

If you haven't already, then set up your own website and sell via that. You then have control.

Set up a paypal account and other than the fees for that, you don't pay anyone else for selling the pictures.

I don't have my own website yet as such. I have one for the business but the focus on that is different.

Domains are cheap enough, so create one for selling your pictures

Not . A domain name is cheap for sure. Hosting isn't too expensive, fine. Now design a good e-commerce website to sell your pics - a little more difficult and probably cost £500-£1000 to have a good one done. Now, that leaves one last thing, like any shop you need eyes at the window and feet through the door. So now get ranked on search results, not easy to hit the top ten on the ubiquitous big G. That gets them through the door - now remember you'll be lucky to sell to 1% of visitors. Was all the effort worth it? probably not.

One way to go is to go through a Photo stock site such as shutterstock, investment is just signing up and uploading your finished pictures. Yes, you still need to promote your stock, do that through facebook, twitter and a blog. Post up low res versions of new pics on the social media when you upload to your photo stock site. Blog about your photography trips etc...

But certainly don't go to the immense effort of a new website solely to sell your own pictures until you've at least found a market for them.

How about just hang a couple of framed prints in local doctors surgery or local cafe to start, loading to getty or shutterstock they need to be pretty awsome then they still may not get viewed and chances are if they do get picked it will probably be for a magazine spread pic worth to you peanuts.

Personally i think stock image sites are a bit pointless. There are plenty of photographey themed websites that are simple to setup, edit and administer.
If you're serious about selling prints then its a case of a good website and taking your prints to market, buyers rarely come to you and so you need to go to them. Craft fairs and the like are normally good outlets and if you're commercial it gives you chance to hand cards and fliers out.

I think this is the best way to go, rotate them every now and again and allow the venue a small percentage. They get nice artwork and a percentage of the sale and you get your photos seen by a lot of people
