Thanks for your time and effort, it is appreciated. It certainly looks like the regulator. I surmise that if it was a wiring fault, it would be either all the time or intermittent, rather than ok when the car is first started and then deteriorating as it warms up.

Thanks for the link, O rings ordered. Pushed my luck too far, car managed to get me to work but at home time, starts and then cuts out after 2-3 seconds

Good morning all. Finally got my beast home, repair kit and a dry day off to do the job. Can anyone tell me what type of fixing holds the regulator in place and what size please. My glasses are the wrong focal length and I can see b****r all.

Torx 30 or Torx 27 for some unknown reason I have seen both? so best to have both to hand. You will need to remove the manifold, starter motor, then the regulator few pics below for you.

Good Morning all.
My Diesel still giving problems cutting out when coming off the gas and engine running on briefly when switched off. Thinking that perhaps I had done a shoddy job changing the O rings, I ordered another set and have just fitted them. When I first restarted the engine, all seemed fine, switched off and engine stopped as it should. Went for a 20minute run and all seemed ok until as I was parking the engine cut out again. Restarted no problem but when I switched off, the engine ran on again. There is no one close with a T4, just an ex-Rover garage that is very pricey. Is it possible that the sensor at the end of the fuel rail is dodgy or the complete regulator? Thanks. Last edited by polinsteve; 5th April 2017 at 12:10.. |
