Brake Warning Light on intial start up....
Hi guys,
I have had this happen twice, but only when I initialy start the car from being left for a short period of time. Once it has been used the warning dosen't appear. Now would this be due to a component sticking and once used / warmed up it is free (hense no warning?)... Has anyone else experienced this? There appears to be no other breaking issues at present. Any help as always will be greatly appreciated. Regards, Carl |

Brake light, is this the yellow ABS lamp? If so that is normal as it is just doing a self test, how long does the light stay on for?

Is this related to brake fluid level?

If its the red one, then I believe it warns of brake fluid level and handbrake on/off.

I had this on and off for 6 months, also brake light failure intermittantly
Changed all the bulbs in the tail lights and seemed to cure the bulb failure, but still had the brake warning Last week put car up on blocks to change alternator and do a thourough brake check, can anybody tell me how fluid level is monitored ?, I cant find the sensor. As the battery was disconnected to do the alternator a 'reset' took place Re-made all the electrical connectors for the pad warning and ABS and ...... still had the brake warning !!!! Anyhow another job to do was replace the numberplate bulb(festoons, which I didnt have when I changed the rear end bulbs previously) AND ...................................... the brake warning immediately dissapeared !!!!!!!! Puzzled, but my theory at the moment is that brake warning is connected with brake light failure, or the cars perceived failure and as I am sure I have seen on here somewhere the numberplate lights are connected with brake light bulb failure. Not sure above is very clear, but I would recommend changing the tail light bulbs and the number plate bulbs, and then do a battery disconnect reset Before everyone pitches in and rubbishs it - IT WORKED FOR ME, that is unless I had some other coincidence that I dont yet know about Just got to do the window rattle mod now and I am sorted for a bit !! (I hope ) Andy |

If a rear side light fails the corresponding brake light is illuminated at a reduced intensity via pulse width modulation. So i suppose it could be possible that there may be a link as they are on the same circuit

Guys,
Many thanks for your time on this matter. It is probably my fault, when I said the brake warning light, what I actually meant was on the display at the top is a large screen (BRAKE WARNING) is writen in Red on initial start up as per previous post. I do apolgise if anyone was under the impression it was the small brake light icon. Regards, Carl |
