Finally got back home detour to go shopping after handing over to Tim (SWMBO's payback time)

Middle part of Stage 8 was a nightmare time-wise, endless convoys of caravans and heavy traffic with very few overtaking places. (Beautiful day = every man and his dog on the roads)

Disappointed that I didn't have chance to stop at all for scenic photo's on the way whilst trying to make up time.

On route made the decision at Bridlington to try and re-coup some time by cutting diagonally across to Goole and the M62/M18, missing out Hull completely, saving about 20 minutes.

Still ended up 1 hour 40 minutes behind schedule.

Many thanks for everyone involved in this great event. Great to meet Mike and his mate at Saltburn and also a big thank you to Tim and Heather for the much needed coffee at Doncaster. Will post the pictures of the handovers later today.

Russ
