Having access to a single example - 2004 facelift with halogen projector headlights - I'm in no position to offer a comprehensive guide.

But here, for starters, is a photo of the inboard headlight on the driver's side, after pulling off the rubber cover. The lever is circled.

The 2003 handbook suggests that earlier models with halogen projectors had the lever behind the outer headlight, which is less accessible, but easy enough through the panel in the wheel-arch.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your reply and for taking the time to make this photo. I went by my mechanic today and checked the Xenons I got off ebay. I can also confirm (for other people who might be interested) that the MK1 Xenon Projector lights also have the lever to the same spot that you show in your photo. I am still not sure what the effect of moving the lever up or down will be but I will experiment once my car is back on the road and report here.

Might be useful also to add that while I do not have the auto adjuster-sensor-suspension thingies, the manual adjuster in the light switch panel works just fine with Xenons as well.

Cheers,

Theodore.

I just read, it is not wise to put sticker on an xenon headlight. It might to get too hot.
(Just reading, not tested. )
