Thumbs up 'Machine gun' Boot release- Fix!!!

I was in a scrap yard this morning & picked up something handy I thought could help me fix that annoying problem of the 'Machine gun' boot release phenomenon when you press the release button..

I have just finished fitting them and thought i'd share the end result...

The boot release now works perfectly and 'pops' open every time

Just to know, this spring came from a Volvo V70 Bonnet release- It was one long spring I cut in two and they now fit perfectly onto the boot bumpers- and are even adjustable!

I hope this helps other people with the same annoying problem!!

2nd that, just turn the stops anti clockwise, works everytime! Like your thinking though, can't beat a bit of overkill lol

Thanks- But i'd tried that and unfortunately it wasn't a fix for me!

Also, if you turn/adjust them too much (which I needed)- the boot doesn't seal closed properly any more!

The fix where you wind the stops out/in works fine but i find you have to keep doing it depending on the weather.

When its cold and the rubber stops are hard you dont need them so far out or as the OP says the boot doesnt seal properly or even bounces back open when you close it.
Then when it warms up it starts machine gunning again and you have to wind them out. Its a pain in the bum during changable weather!

My auto boot lift mod has sorted this out for me though

Yes, the "turning" isn't necessarily a cure. Whilst it has improved the situation on mine it hasn't entirely cured it. I still get the occasional machine gun dependent upon temperature or angle of the land. This is a neat idea which I shall copy. I also need new struts as mine are no longer man enough for the job.

Rubber stick on pads on for stopping furniture marking wooden floors, For me an instant fix that has been like it now for at least 5 years. Courtesy of Lidl.
