In answer to the OP's question I would not vote for independence.

Fair point, but as a result of devolution you do get sovereignty over key issues such as planning, which has allowed Holyrood to block Westminster's attempts to build new Nuclear Powerstations in Scotland for example. Because you do have De Facto Sovereignty, just not De Jure.

I am English yes, but have plenty of family ‘over the boarder’ ''Being dictated to and told to like it''... hmm sounds very much the same as it does in Essex, somethings don’t change with independence

Alex Salmond is a smug, ba' faced cretin..... I wouldn't trust him to watch my pint while I went for a pee..... so I won't be trusting the country to him.

I did actually vote for the SNP last time around but their ego has got the better of them.

It's such a pity we don't have a John Smith or Donald Dewar to entrust with the job.

Keep the union is getting my vote, for now.

Cheers
Bluey

Seriously, can someone tell me what would be the advantage of Scotland being an independant nation : I fear that there would be many negatives, there would be cost implications all round. Scotland would have a relatively tiny economy - how would it have coped with something like the collapse of RBS ? I would imagine that it would need to be fiscally tied to either the pound or to the euro - both would mean that its economy would be driven by larger economies. Look at the ROI and Greece.
I think that we should not be looking at the past - and crying FREEDOM - but looking at today and the future with a world dominated by huge economies such as China. We should be looking at keeping our freedom - togather.

Mate im trying hard to agree with you on that point but i think you have got it all wrong. Of course it's not the man in the street who make's the desicion's.

And yes it is one nation over another. If it wasent then we wouldent be disscusing this matter.

When you are on your own you can deal with the situation , all we want is to be allowed to deal with OUR situation , SCOTLAND needs a future and frankly thats without england in my book .

A new beginning , yes a struggle but i relish it .

All this "but what will happen" tosh does my head in , bring it on and let us sort it as needs be .

BTW dont go worrying about us poor scots because we are well capable of organizing things .
