Default PCV filter

Hi, does anyone know where you can buy a pcv filter, and is the 'filter' free BMW unit a better investment, and finally as I'm in question mode, how much do they retail for and are they a straight forward fit, i.e no modifications needed, Regards, Marc

The "new" PCV version is permanent and lasts forever, whereas the older type with a filter need changing every few years. I think they are both fairly easy to change, say 45 mins ish.

I have no idea what the new ones cost though..

If you want the new type filter free seperator, then BMW sell the inner part to fit in your housing for about £20. Part no. B 11 12 7 799 367.
If you wish to buy it with a new housing then about £40 Part no. B 11 12 7 799 224.
No mods needed, and about 15mins to fit.

I didnt find an online supplier, but my local BMW did not have one in stock so they posted it to me for about £1.50 extra and it arrived 5 days from ordering. So total cost to me was about £21 .This may be an option for you.
I just bought the insert, to replace the filter part. This comes with the housing gaskets and new O ring.
The old filter unclips and the filter holder (the bit that stops the filter falling off) is also removed.
The new part with the new O ring just clips into its place. Very simple.

I bought the whole shebang, from my local BMW dealer, in stock, for around £41 IIRC.

But if you do buy from BMW, ask for "owners' club discount" - I got 10% just for the asking. I didn't volunteer, and they didn't ask - until it was too late - which owners club I belonged to!

It was a straightforward switch, but I messed it up and broke one of the return fuel hose T-pieces, so be careful!!
