Default Sharp clutch

I have recently purchased a 2004 diesel and was informed it had a new good quality clutch fitted which i am sure was true. This seems very sharp and has to be pushed to the floor for a smooth change would this be normal? Any advice appreciated

After a correct bleeding you ought to get something like that:

Try to bleed first and see the evolution .
you could have micro air entry ...

Thanks Mike really appreciated sounds well worth a try am pretty green guess its just the same as bleeding the brakes?

It's a bit more involved - access to the bleed nipple (the pipe for this comes out the top of the gearbox) is a bit tricky, but do able with small spanners.
Access to the Master Cylinder for topping up the fluid is a royal pain - it's mounted high above the clutch pedal, and will need to be topped up after every bleed cycle as the reservoir is small.
Before filling it, remove the black rubber 'condom'.
