The VDO 413 was fitted to Renault, and other cars, and not to Rover 75 and MG ZT.

The X was to designate the radio was for use in a Rover.

the 413 was fitted to the 75 right at the end of the run , this model is better for me as it has the loudness circuit in and usable also was in din format not jin like the 413x the unit also can with a harness like the symphony unit which did the steering wheel audio bits where the white sticker has been removed was an mg rover part number

John, its a new one on me..

The X was to show that the steering wheel controls were connected to the green mini ISO plug.

CD 413

CD 413 X

Looks the same radio, which it should as they are both VDO 413 units except the CD eject writing is in red on the 413 and white on the 413x

How were the steering wheel controls connected on the 413 you had ??

din / jin format ??

hi mate jin format is smaller slightly smaller than a standard car radio size (din)

my cables for the cd changer and steering wheel controls do no connect to the back of the radio they connect to the harness end ( there are no blue green yellow connectors on the radio) this harness seems to be a cheaper version of the usual autoleads convertor and goes in between the lid of the case

main difference and the reason I want this is the loudness is in the no x version you have turn loudness on and off where the x version is missing this and adds a whole better sound to the unit

So, was the 413 a hard wired unit when connected to the 75 loom via two ISO plugs.

The lower picture shows a 413X and I must say it looks exactly the same size headunit as the 413.

I know the 413x is a single din unit and the different double din carrier show in both pictures were used on an interchangable basis, that is, some facelift 75's had one type and some the other type.

Is there a loudness button ??

I am trying to find out more about the headunit you are asking about.

I have so far not seen a 75 with the 413 headunit.

Here is a 413 on Ebay

hi

might have to go that route thanks for link

no no loudness button m there is an option on the bass seetings in audio menu

on this model it reads low- mid- high - loudness (3 levels and off)

ive only ever seen these on a 2005 reged cars with no cd

meat to add , the loom cannot be fully disconnected from the back of the 413 , where the case meets at the top there is a wire that goes inbeween a tiny cutout
