Default MG6 Charity Test Drive - 16/10/2011

Finally this is organized!!!!

A new MG Dealership called RMG is opening on Boucher Crescent in the old Mini Showroom (opposite Matalan etc) and they have invited our local members to their MG fun day on Sunday, 16 October from 11am to approx 4pm and also everyone else is welcomed as they also are Subaru dealers.

22 Boucher Crescent, BT12 6RE, Belfast, United Kingdom

Now this isnt just about MG owners, MG UK have been traveling the entire United Kingdom promoting the MG6 and for every person who test drives the MG6. There are family details below also.

They are offering £5 to your choice of Help for Heroes or McMillian Cancer Research just for simply test driving the MG6, and thats PER PERSON.

Now representatives from MG Uk will be there with the cars, and they are busting for feed back on the car to help guide the future of the brand in the UK.

They have the following events booked for the day, in order to provide entertainment for all the family:

Catering trailer.
Bucking bronco.
Bouncy castle.
Bungee run.
Face painting.

And for the big kids!

Car judging, most popular, concours with prizes provided by the dealership.

5 new MG 6 Demonstrators for test drives, all the 1.8 Turbo engines.

Also Subarus if required including the new Subaru Cosworth.

Paul Luti from Scotland who is sponsored by the new MG company in his MG TF in the MG Trophy Cup, will be in attendance.

Free goodies for MGCC members, together with free health and winter check vouchers and discount card for parts etc. They have the distribution for XPARTS so will be able to accommodate supply for many makes and models including older models.

Should be a lot of fun and maybe if a time was co-ordinated for those wishing to bring their cars for the display and judging, it could be a good event.

Representatives will give news of future models including proposed sports cars (such as the upcoming Touring cars!) which look fabulous. An MGCC Midget will be on show in the new showroom for the launch and over the weekend.

Please just leave your interest in this below or turn up on the day.

Regards, Colin

Photos by Colin (Talago! Thanks mate!)

Well a good day was had by all today, and I must admit to being very impressed with the MG6 especially as RMG are now offering 5 years warrenty, 3 years road tax and 6 months petrol with a MG6 for only £15,500. Thats a serious price imo.

Finally got my real drive in a MG6 and I drove both saloon and hatch and I was very impressed with it. Ok its not a tyre threading fwd beast like the Astra VXR but I was massively impressed with just how smooth the 1.8 Turbo drove. It reminded me of a straight six engine and pulled strong up the gears you barely felt the turbo but it pullswell into the high revs!

I was especially impressed at it driving at 30mph in 5th around town and how it picked up the power keeping it in 5th also.

The RMG folks where fantastic today and treated everyone excellent, with free hot food (I had countless burgers) and test drives all day, and even some show and shine awards for folks that turned up in their MG's. The enthusiasm just talking with them, it was great and I hope to deal with them in the future!

They have offered us their facility for free for meetings and such if i organize with them, and will bring a MG6 to the next rolling road im organizing, and with them now becoming an xpart dealer they want to get involved with MG-Rover cars as much as the future MG's.

There was a 6R4 rally car MG Metro (porn!) and a MG TF from the Trophy cup by Dreadnought Tuning, which are the modern MG worlds equivalent of Barbus etc.

Got speaking to Paul Luti who drives for them and it was amazing poking over his race TF, even got a sit in it, lol.

Few beautiful cars, including an unregistered MGB with under 140 miles on it from new!!!!

Also I got quite a lot of goss on the "MG 6 Touring Car" thats coming up next year along with other plans that arnt signed just yet, should be revealed by May time but mean time they have a standard MG6 dressed up like one.

New range of engines on route for the MG6 also, a brand new diesel very shortly, a 2.0 Turbo petrol and a low emission V6 all due within the next year!!!

MG is looking very exciting if i do say so in the future, with the MG3, MG5 and a new MG7 on route along with a MG4x4 I cant wait to see what the next 3 years bring.

Also Jim won car of the day, the owner of the dealership and the dealership manager where so impressed with his MG V6 (ex police spec!) he got a nice little reward, which I wont reveal what,be he can show people at the next meet.

The man in action.

And some more members cars from the day, thank you to everyone who turned up and im sure other members will comment on the cars they drove also.

Colin, That was a really enjoyable day. I was impressed with the MG6. The one I took out had the 1.8 turbo engine (an updated version of the K series). It drove really well. A very nice car.

Good turnout of members also. Thanks for putting up the photos.

Here's another nice car that was there - Neale's MG
