Smile Secret Menu

Hi Gents

I have just got my hands on a bargain Diesel 75 to run and run. 2003 cdt
However, I was messing about with the "secret menu" and when I looked at 6 which is the fuel tank it didn't seem to make sense as the first three digits were all zero.

I therefore filled her up (66 litres) needle at max and the secret menu showed --0570 which if I'm correct is 57 litres. I filled it up to the brim with 2 clicks of the pump any more and it would have been on my shoes.

I have tested the fuel pumps engine one goes like mad on ignition without starting. I think I can hear a faint sound from the tank pump (fuel cap off) but its hard to tell with ambient noise.

Is it worth me keeping the fuel level above qtr just in case the fuel pump in the tank is gone I could be in trouble. Any other checks I could be doing??

Other than this the car is spot on and its got 170K on the clock...Thanks in advance guys....

Just to make sure you are hearing the in tank pump, do the test again but unplug the electrical connector on the top of the under bonnet pump first.

Don't believe all that you read on interpreting Section 6.

Thanks Gents...

The tank pump seems to buzz away for 40 secs with the front one disconnected...Either that or I'm hearing things in my head ....

I will leave the secret menu alone from now on...

You have both been true gents many thanks...

That seems about right. It will stop if you don't start the engine. Both pumps are powered from the same relay.
