I don't know what these new laws are about but going from the overview on the petitions page it would seem some local authorities are trying to prevent people from photographing famous buildings/landmarks all in the name of the prevention of terrorism. I ask you... Whatever next - the restricted sale of long-range zoom lenses...
Okay... rant over. |

I got Stopped By British Transport Police and was asked to Stop taking details of trains when Photographing them,
Allegedly under the prevention of Terrorism Act. I asked them to produce any Act that showed this was not allowed, they couldn't They asked for a Platform Ticket or Authority (which I had) They then said they would bring a High Ranking officer to deal with me. I waited an Hour and gave up. |

I got asked to stop taking photos in the West Quay at Southampton a while back. I asked why and the security bloke said it's because of the data protection act! I couldn't figure that one out especially as I only took a coulpe of my girl friend.

I must admit that feeling conscious I'm doing something "out of the ordinary" does hamper my photography a bit. It shouldn't be like this. |

A few years ago my daughter & I were prevented from photographing outside a new building near the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. The jobsworth said we might be looking at the computer screens in the offfices..
... From the pavement skywards up the building wall. Anyway daughter dragged me away, we'd got the pics by then . |
